FAQ - PULPchat Setup

last modified Jul 27, 2021

Visitors to my site log in with a username and password. How do I pass the username to PULPchat so they don't have to log in twice?

All you have to do is add  &user=username  to the end of your links and PULPchat will skip the login page and log the user in automatically.

Example:

With a little ASP or PHP scripting, you can dynamically set the username in the link to the username of the person logged into your site.

Passwords
For security reasons, you cannot send passwords in the url. Any names that you register in your PULPchat User Manager have to be logged in through the PULPchat login page.

To send encrypted passwords from your own database, see this FAQ.
