Password protected screen names
PULPchat can be configured several ways depending on the application. It can be a public chat room where any screen name can be used by any visitor. Second, it can be a mixed use chat room where anonymous visitors can use any screen name as long as it has not been reserved by a moderator or registered user. Third, it can be a private chat room where only registered users may enter and each screen name belongs to a specific person.

Flexible Private Messages
PULPchat provides complete flexibility in private messaging. Private messages can either be sent to the main window, where they only appear to the intended recipient, or they can be sent to a separate private window. Users can spawn multiple windows to have private conversations with many people at a time. All forms of private messaging can be enabled or disabled by the administrator of each PULPchat. For example, a PULPchat might be configured to allow moderators to send private messages to each other while private messages for regular users are disabled.

Names link to Homepages or Profiles
If you run a subscription site where your members have a homepage or profile, PULPchat will automatically link each person's screen name to their page. Also, PULPchat can display a short description of each upon mouseover of each screen name, for example, "SM 24 Chicago".

Configurable Transcripts / Recording
PULPchat offers each user the ability to save or print their entire chat session. PULPchat can be configured on the server side to automatically record daily transcripts by room or by specific user. This is important to financial and medical industries that have specific rules that require instant messaging communications to be recorded and logged. PULPchat generates its own daily log files that list every user, the room they were in, time they logged in, how long they were online, their IP address, and their browser type.

Security for Subscription Sites
With the growing popularity of dating and matchmaking sites, chat room security is even more of a concern. People pay to join subscription sites in the hopes that they can meet specific people rather than the random users of public chat rooms. In a public chat room, FreAKy4U could be a man from Los Angeles today and a woman from Boston tomorrow. PULPchat provides additional levels of security not found in Java based chat rooms, ensuring that unwanted individuals cannot gain access to your private chat room.
