2005 PULPchat Design Contest Overview

Open to graphic artists and web designers, PULPchat.com is giving away a chat room to the best chat room design submitted by the contest deadline. PULPchat is the only chat application that can be fully customized with HTML and CSS. This gives designers the freedom to match the design of the chat or instant messaging application to any web site. It promotes brand reinforcement by creating a unique and memorable experience for site visitors.

The best entries will be featured on www.PULPchat.com along with the artist's name and link to their web site. Skin Design Overview
A complete PULPchat "skin" consists of the following:

• A single .jpg or .gif image for the background, usually 600 x 360, 500 x 400, or 600 x 500. Although most designers choose one of these sizes, there is no set dimension for any PULPchat. Many times a specific size is chosen to fit into a larger frameset or other layout.
• A small set of .gif images makes the scrollbars for the messages and user list. Scrollbars consist of two arrow buttons, a handle, and a background "track" which can be transparent.
• Another set of .gif images are used for the "Send", "Smileys", "Font", "Save/Print", "Rooms", and "Logout" buttons.
• Text and background colors play an important role in every PULPchat skin. The following colors are specified as part of the design:
  - Message text color
  - Link color
  - Screen Names on sent messages
  - Names on received messages
  - Names in the Online User list
  - Hover on Names in the Online User list
  - Dimmed Names in the Online User List
  
• Finally, a full set of 16 custom emoticons or "smileys" can be made for any PULPchat. These appear in a menu that appears when the "Smileys" button is clicked.
