About the 2005 PULPchat.com Web Site
This site has been completely rebuilt from scratch for 2005. Inspired by several other sites
and a desire for the advancement of CSS and standards
compliant design, this site attempts to meet a number of requirements:
- HTML
This site's html validates as HTML 4.01 Transitional. It should appear properly in all standards
based browsers on the Macintosh and Windows. Through the use of CSS, we have been able to strip away many of the extra <TABLE>
tags and spacer GIFs that most sites have come to rely upon for layout. This has resulted in much
leaner and easier to manage HTML pages. We recommend the Firefox Browser for all platforms. Every page on this site should validate with no
errors or warnings, although there may be a few exceptions.
- CSS
This appearance of this site is accomplished entirely with CSS. Tables are not used for layout except
when an actual chart of data is desired. Most spacer and accent <IMG>s have been replaced, and the
overall size in bytes of each page has been drastically reduced. The entire look of this site could be
changed by changing the master .css file. The stylesheet for this site validates with no errors and no warnings.
- 508
The accessibility of this site is checked according to U.S. Government Section 508 Guidelines. Section 508 requires that individuals
with disabilities have access to and use of information and data that is comparable to that provided
to the rest of the public. Most pages on this site are Section 508 compliant. The rest will be updated
in the future.
- AAA
This site attempts to follow the WAI Content Accessibility Guidelines, Support Level: AAA. This set of standards ensures
that a site's content is accessible to individuals with disabilities but also that Web content more
available to all users, whatever user agent they are using (e.g., desktop browser, voice browser,
mobile phone, automobile-based personal computer, etc.) or constraints they may be operating under (e.g.,
noisy surroundings, under- or over-illuminated rooms, in a hands-free environment, etc.). Following these
guidelines will also help people find information on the Web more quickly. While most pages on this site are
not fully aaa compliant yet, we are constantly
working towards this goal.
Note: On the very bottom of each page are links to check the validity of all four standards.
