No, not at all. PULPchat allows people visiting a website to communicate with each other.
This is a little different from the Instant Messaging applications that big companies like
AOL, Microsoft, and Yahoo offer. PULPchat is not supposed to be a replacement for these
applications. In fact, ninety percent of the thousands of people we've talked to, are
glad they don't have to use their AOL screen name when they enter Company XYZ's
PULPchat. People use an Instant Messenger to communicate with people in their "buddy list".
These same people generally want to stay anonymous in chat rooms. This is
why PULPchat is great for customer service. No one has to register a screen name or
download anything to ask a question in Your Company's PULPchat.
The latest trend is big instant messaging companies trying to adapt to the business world.
This is kind of ridiculous. Each company has it own proprietary protocol that they won't
share with the rest of the world. That would be like buying a fax machine that could only
send faxes to other fax machines made by the same company. PULPchat uses nothing but
good 'ol HTTP. It's our opinion that public instant messaging applications are not properly
suited for business, while PULPchat is a perfect solution for any business that relies on a
website for sales.
