They say necessity is the mother of invention. This was definately true in the
case of PULPchat. Being an artist, Robert Giordano wanted a chat room he could
completely customize. He didn't want a plain gray or white box where everyones's
messages would appear. He wanted complete control over the interface, from the
background to the buttons, and even the scrollbars. No Java apps existed that
provided that kind of flexibility. Robert set out to do it himself with HTML, Javascript,
and server side scripting. By the summer of 2002, it had developed into an application
that so many people wanted, PULPchat became a full time business.
